Tambours intérieurs is a title suggested by my friend and poet Jean-Sébastien Lemieux when I told him about my fascination with life that is meant to fight the first time that the doctor puts his microphone on the belly ofthe mother who carries our baby. Such energy, an amazing determination from a small being who has not had to wonder what life means. And now, with each pulse, more or less regularly, but always fast, something may happen, something happens, is created, invented, grows. Is not that what is happening at every moment ofthe life ofthe world, at all levels, great mix ofvital impulses that generate constantly moving forward, somewhere between desire and entropy? Tambours intérieurs is a piece where I try to approach this poetic image where each moment arises spontaneously, claiming a sort ofontological independence in the midst ofthe musical form. I work on the immediacy ofmusical perception, each situation very quickly establishing its nature and its profile in order to cause a rather sensory listening and to minimize the sensation ofdevelopment or narrative. From these premises, I develop my ideas within a theoretical environment where coexist “performative figures”, “pre-figurative actions” and “solid-sonorities”, all of which appear in turn in the continuous flow ofan accumulative form, to build each successive sequence without further ado, sometimes even overlapping. A staging option is proposed in order to emphasize more or less paradoxically different musical interactions between musicians.
