The work consists of a single, uninterrupted pitch: always the same yet constantly changing. I used a number of recordings of water, fire, crowds, children at play, insects and other noisy sounds. The computer was used to extract the same pitch from these very different sound sources, a technique that can be compared to a tube or tunnel, which colours any sound passing through it. The work is mixed in four channels to create a continuous circular motion. The tunnel is an obvious symbol of transition, a passage from one state to another. Tunnel Vision was originally created as part of the ballet CMXCV in collaboration with the choreographer Warren Spears.
