Une île

Georges Forget

Une île has been performed in Brussels…

“A woman is like an island.
You approach her like an island.
You visit her like an island.
She marks you like an island,
And you forget about her like an island.”

Olivier de Kersauson

[English translation: François Couture, ii-15]

Une île [An Island] was realized during an artist residency in the Electroacoustic Music Studios of the University of Birmingham (UK) and at the composer’s studio. It was premiered on October 22, 2009 during the 16th international acousmatic festival L’Espace du son at Théâtre Marni, Brussels, Belgium. Une île was commissioned by the Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges (IMEB, France); the residency when it was composed was made possible through the financial support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ). Thank you to Jonty Harrison.
