Peyee Chen

Peyee Chen is a soprano with a particular interest in contemporary and Baroque music.

Appearances as a soloist include the Gavin Bryars Ensemble, Edinburgh Contemporary Music Ensemble (ECME, Scotland, UK), Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire at the York Spring Festival of New Music (England, UK), Harmonic Series at the Light Show in Hayward Gallery of Southbank Centre (London, England, UK), and world premieres at British festivals GEMdays, Rymer~Nights Series, Spitalfields Music Festival, and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. She is an ad hoc member of the BBC Singers and Exaudi, with recent engagements including the BBC Proms, and Aldeburgh Festival with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG). Her voice can also be found on the Naxos audiobook Faust (music by Roger Marsh).

Peyee Chen also works regularly with young composers and has given guest lectures and workshops on writing for voice at University of Huddersfield (England, UK) and University of York (England, UK). She received her BMus degree from Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois, USA) in 2008, and her MA with distinction from University of York (England, UK) in 2010.
